This piece explores various studies on the sound of breath control, including meditation, gaming, gas masks, vocal techniques, Qigong, and even erotic asphyxiation. When I was young in Korea, there was a trend among middle school students called the "fainting game." It was a very dangerous activity where students would make each other faint by inducing suffocation and then revive them immediately. In that hazy, dreamlike state, as one's senses faded and consciousness blurred, the brief euphoria felt during suffocation would momentarily overshadow the pain of being deprived of air. This dangerous game was popular for a while, but after hearing news reports of fatalities, it was eventually banned in schools.

Breath control can sometimes bring health and well-being, as seen in Buddhist meditation or yoga practices, but other times, the artificial manipulation of breath can lead to a drug-like pleasure or even death. In this piece, I focused on the sounds that emerge from various breathing techniques—such as the sound of a gas mask, rapid breaths, and deep breathing.
